This weekend, I will be continuing my "Unforgettables" cocktail series with The Americano.
This cocktail has a long and influential history in the cocktail landscape. Originating in 1860s Milan, Italy this drink was originally called Milan-Torino because of its base ingredients: Campari (from Milan) and Sweet Vermouth (Vermouth di Torino, Italian vermouth). The cocktail was later named the Americano because of its popularity with American tourists prior to Prohibition (a dark time in history).
Also of note, it is storied that Count Negroni ordered an Americano with gin, thus the Negroni as we know it was born.
Come by this weekend and grab a few of these as an aperitif with our Italian Sampler platter. You won't regret it.
Come early. Stay late. Drink classy.
